Just finished up at a RTT - Blog Wars
Came 4th.
Tabled my first opponent who had a Mephiston "Hybrid" List - made Meph run off the table!
Second game was versus my blog mate from SoS on table 1 with his Hellion/Baron Dark Eldar. Killpoint game was an absolute epic. I pulled ahead quick, but CML's started to faulter and not drop venoms, and I got stuck at about 6 KP's, I got bogged down with 8 terminators on 8 wychs's - the wychs ended up winning! Meltas absolutely wiffed as well come to think of it - I think I only melta'd a single target. All came down to my final dice roll - I'd got past flicker field on a venom - 4+ and I win. Roll a 3. 8-8. But still in with a ... poor chance. I'd have to table my final opponent near enough to win.
After a bit of confusion I end up with a Draigo 20 paladin list. I'd rather have gotten the mech BA list instead, but alas. He had 20 paladins, 4 psycannons in each, all unique, and draigo. 21 models - 1750 points. 5 objectives, I figured I'd control the midfield and force him to try and push me off. It took me to T2 (well end of T1) to realise he just wants to stand and shoot me, and doesnt want me any where near him. After having lost about 11 terminators (maybe more) in 2 turns, I just ran. Got into combat with draigo's unit and after like 3 turns of combat made them run off the board. At the end of 5 I had 2 objectives, he had 1 as I had contested with an attack bike. End of T6 I had 2 he had 0 as I had both an attack bike and normal bike contesting. End of 7 I had 2 he had 1 as he killed the bike. Little he could do. He had 9 terminators to my 2 wound attack bike and 2 single terminators.
If I played that game again. I'd have set up each squad with 1 guy on the 12" line, and his squad as tightly packed behind him as possible. Set up the bikes ON the table, right out on flanks and scouted them behind terrain. In his T1 he'd near enough kill a unit still, but I'd have run rather than fire - in T1 I moved about 5" towards him as I did some lateral movement etc ... instead I'd have moved 6" forward and ran the average 3" - meaning I'd have probably gotten a 2nd turn charge, having lost another 4 or 5 terminators - but with 15 guys hitting a single unit - plus bikes - which he may well have shot at to avoid getting insta-gib'd - He'd have no answer but to pile in - if I could do enough wounds in a single turn - which with 15 (opposed to the 7 I used to win vs the 10) I'd probably have done it.
Ah well
I ended up 4th - on VP's - having tied with the ultimate winner, so not bad.
I also won best painted Special Character.
